Biochemical conversion

Biochemical conversion research focuses on intensification of bioprocesses by developing high throughput bioprocessing methods, improving the mass transfer management in bioreactors, and by increasing the value of industrial side products.

The main technologies include fermentations and downstream processing of microbial products; examination and modeling of transport phenomena in consistent bioprocesses; development of small-scale biocatalysis technologies, especially for process intensification and scale-up purposes; refining of biomasses, including enzymatic processing of biopolymers, and valorization of industrial side streams for the production of biochemicals and valuable side products.
